Today is what’s known as Pentecost Sunday on the church calendar. Essentially, this is the Christian church’s birthday! We read in Acts 2 that the people were gathered together, people of all sorts of nationalities and races. Next thing they know, the sound of a mighty wind is heard and the Holy Spirit comes upon them, resting on each one as a flaming tongue. And then they begin to speak in different languages (tongues) as they were enabled. And yet, while they were speaking their native tongues, they were understood by everyone else as if the people speaking were speaking the hearer’s language. What a miracle! God intended for the church to be this diverse; this was truly a moment of “Holy Diversity.” That’s what we’re talking about today!
After worship, we will consecrate the new home of Tim and Julie Cade. All are invited for this wonderful time of celebration. Tim and Julie will also host an open house and refreshments will also be served.
There will be no evening activities tonight.
Come join us for an amazing day of worship and celebration. Wear something red if you’re able. Otherwise, come just as you are – you are welcome at Oak Grove!
